1349545 Centrifugal strainer with removable liner bag ETABS ROUSSELET 2 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 40913/71 Heading B1D [Also in Division F2] The vertical drum (2) of a centrifugal strainer (Fig. 1, not shown) is lined by a filter bag 4 of annular re-entrant shape whose inner and outer peripheries are secured to a cruciform member 8 and a ring 3, 5, which carry respective rings or hooks 9 and 6. The bag conforms to the interior walls of the drum during centrifuging and is subsequently lifted therefrom (Fig. 2) by a device which maintains its re-entrant shape, after which the device lowers member 8 (Fig. 3, not shown) allowing the filter cake to fall through the central opening in the bag. As shown the lifting device comprises cruciform member 10 with rings or hooks 12 which latch on to hooks 6 and a square-sectioned rod 14 sliding through member 10 and carrying hooks 17 to engage hooks 9. Rod 14 is so mounted (Fig. 4, not shown) as to allow limited rotation during engagement and carries abutments 19. The device is lowered into the centrifuge to hook on to the bag 4 by a hoist attached to rod 14, and the hoist is then raised so that abutments 19 lift member 10 and the bag 4. The device is then lowered so that member 10 rests on supports 13, and further lowering allows rod 14 to slide down through member 11 to straighten the bag out (Fig. 3). In Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) rod 14 is replaced by a pivoted hook urged by spring (28) to engage a hook or ring (30) on member 8 but movable by pulling a cord (29) to release member 8 so that the bag straightens out under gravity to discharge cake. Member 8 also carries pivoted hooks (32) which pivot outwards during centrifuging to engage a lip (34) on the centrifuge drum.
