of course, instead of moving the frame from the washing machine with the full bag to the extractor, the frame may also be left near the washing machine and the rim with the filled bag carried to the extractor by the traveling crane 8. At the end of the extracting operation, the extractor is stopped; the ropes 1 are attached ,to the rim 4, and the rim with the bag is withdrawn from the extractor and carried to the place where it is desired to empty the bag. This is done by untying the cord 5 which, in the removal of the bag from the extractor, has not been attached to the rope It. The bag when empty is clbsed by the cord 5 and then lowered again into the frame 8 or another similar frame to receive a fresh charge of material.
While the frame 8 is herein shown as consisting of a cylindrical casing, it might also be made of a number of bars and brackets sufllcient to support the rim 4- in a proper position to allow of an easy filling of the bag attached to the rim.
Suitable locking means, not shown, may be used for preventing accidental turning of the frame 8 relative to the truck 8 during the transport from one place to another.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:-
1. An apparatus for loading centrifugal extractors having a rotary basket with a removable top rim, comprising in combination a bag for receiving and holding the charge, attached to the removable basket rim, conveying and lifting means for the rim and bag, a frame separate from the extractor adapted to support the rim and bag in a position ready .for being filled with the material to be extracted. and means carrying the said frame so as to allow it to be turned about its vertical central axis.
2. An apparatus for loading centrifugal extractors havinga rotary basket with a removable top rim, comprising in combination a bag for receiving and holding the charge attached by its upper end to the basket rim and provided at its lower end with means for closing and opening the same, a portable rotatable frame of substantially the same shape as the extractor basket adapted to receive and support the rim and bag in a position ready to be filled with the material to be extracted, a central cone-shaped projection extending from the bottom of the supporting frame inwardly of the sameand adapted to have the central portion of the closed bottom of the bag seated on its summit when the bag is lowered into the supporting frame, and a conveying and lifting device for the rim and bag including suspension ropes adapted to be detachably fastened to the rim and a rope adapted to be detachably fastened to the bottom closing,

in the extractor basket and being designed for loading with particular regard to quantity and load distribution, whereby the amount and distribution of the load in the bag'while the bag is held in the frame will determine the distribution of the load, when placed in the basket, and
elevating means connected to the bag for removing the bag from the frame and transferring it to the basket, said elevating means being connected to the bag to maintain the frame-defining form of the bagand thereby the initial dies tribution of the load during transfer of the bag and its contents from the frame to the basket, whereby during operation of the extractor on one load a subsequent load may be prepared therefor in exact accordance with load distribution desired when'the loadxis within the basket to thereby materially reduce periods of inactivity of the extractor.
4. A means for loading centrifugal extractors, including a frame conforming in size and shape to that of the extractor basket, a bag removably supported in the frame and shaped in the frame to conform to the size and shape of the extractor basket to permit loading the bag while in the frame in accordance with the desired relation of the load when the bag is in the basket, and means for transferring the loaded bag from the frame to the basket, said means being connected to the edge of the bag and to the central portion of the bottom thereof and arranged to maintain the form of the loaded bag when elevated from the frame in substantially exact accordance with the form of the bag when in the frame, whereby when the loaded bag is transferred to the basket the relation of the load to the bag when the latter is in the frame will be maintained by the load in the bag when the latter is in the basket.
5. A method of providing a load of predetermined bulk and arrangement for the basket of a centrifugal extractor, with such load arranged a acteristics of the extractor basket designed to receive the load, loading the container while confined as to size and shape beyond the extractor basket to insure a proper quantity and load distribution for the particular extractor basket, and transferring the loaded container from the point of loading to and within the extractor basket while maintaining during such transference the predetermined size and shape of the loaded container, whereby the load within the container when in the basket will have the same load characteristics as the load in the container outside the basket.
6. A method of providing a load preformed as to size, shape and load distribution to be placed within the basket of a centrifugal extractor in substantially exact preformed condition, consisting in providing a flexible load container adapted when in the basket to assume a size and shape conforming to that of the basket, preforming the flexible container wholly beyond the basket into a size and shape substantially conforming to that of the basket, loading the container while in such preformed condition outside of the basket, with the load in the preformed container arranged and distributed to avoid centrigual stresses when the load is within the basket, and transferring the preformed container with the load into the basket of the extractor while maintaining the preformed condition of the container and the load distribution of the load, whereby, while the extractor is operating on one load, a second load conforming in substantially exact correspondence to the size and shape of the basket and having a load distribution to. avoid centrifugal stresses when in the basket may be made ready.
