Abstract

The process removes the item from a chamber with a lateral opening, being particularly for extracting tunnel-type shuttering from a cast concrete component. As the item protrudes from the chamber but is still fully supported by its floor, a first lifting attached to a crane hook, and incorporating a component adjustable hydraulically for length, is attached to it at a point in front of the vertical plane passing through its centre of gravity. The first rope is then used to pull the item fat enough out of the chamber for a second rope to be attached to it from the crane hook at a point behind the vertical plane referred to. The crane hook is then hoisted and positioned above the centre of gravity, the adjustable-length component being extended and the second rope tautened in the process, thus taking the entire weight, whereupon the item is lifted clear of the chamber.
