Abstract
1349190 Colour facsimile FUJI TELECASTING CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [4 April 1970] 26082/71 Heading H4F In a colour facsimile system, Fig. 1, the reproducer comprises a set of different coloured pens 26, 27, 28, 29 arranged around the reproduction web-carrying drum 31 and bearing on the web, with a pressure controlled by the respective colour video signal, to deposit their inks in amount dependent on said pressure. The pens are described as ball point pens 44, Fig. 2A, mounted on the flexible diaphragm of a moving coil speaker type solenoid, the moving coil 40 receiving the video signal and moving in the air gap of a permanent magnet assembly 37, 38. The pen moves through P.T.F.E. bearings 42, 43. In the facsimile system, the original document 2 on drum 1 is illuminated by source 5 and 6 and red, green, blue and luminance (or cyan, magenta, yellow and luminance) components are detected by photo-electric transducers 7, 8, 9, 10. The colour video signals are time division multiplexed at 15 and transmitted over link 19 (radio or line) to the receiver station. After demultiplying at 21, the colour video signals and the luminance signal are fed to the respective ball-point pen assemblies 26, 27, 28, 29. The pens are kept at a constant distance from the web by roller 45. Synchronizing signals are generated at the transmitter by wheel 16 and pick up 17 and after extraction at the receiver stations are phase compared at 34, with similarly generated sync. signals from the receiver drum. The result of the phase comparison is used to control the drum motor 35. The web is underlaid with a resilient sheet, e.g. rubber, to allow movement of the pens. A felt bar on the drum surface is provided to wipe excess ink from the pens.
