Abstract
1349005 Electric motors; core constructions UNIVERSAL ELECTRIC CO 5 May 1971 [15 July 1970] 13154/71 Heading H2A A shaded pole motor stator lamination comprises a plurality of radially inwardly extending poles 19, each pole having a body portion 20 and a pole shoe portion 21 of greater circumferential extent than the body portion, the pole shoe portion having a slot 24 spaced circumferentially from the body portion for carrying a shading coil 27. The slot 24 extends generally circumferentially so that the shading coil lies around one arm of the pole shoe, radially within the main coil 31. The axial ends of the complete stator, the inner wall of the yoke portion 18 and the outer surfaces of the poles may all have a plastics, e.g. epoxy, coating 30. Alternatively, the pole surfaces and the inner surface of the yoke may have a covering of paper insulation 35, Fig. 5 (not shown).
