1348841 Evaporators; heat exchange elements G BAUKNECHT G BAUKNECHT and G BAUKNECHT [trading as GOTTLOB BAUKNECHT ELEKTROMOTORENBAU] 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21635/71 Headings F4H and F4S A method of accelerating the defrosting of an evaporator for the normal cooling compartment of a refrigerator having a compressor, condenser and normal and freezing compartment evaporators during the switch-off phases of the compressor (under the control of a thermostat): said normal compartment evaporator having a serpentine portion with ascending 51, 52 and descending 49, 50 portions connected together by elbow sections 54, 46, 55, 47, and the inlet of the evaporator is connected with an outlet of a capillary tube 24 provided in the refrigerator between the condenser and the evaporator; wherein after the start of each switch-off phase the evaporator is emptied of refrigerant liquid collected in elbow portions 54, 55 by means of gas pressure formed by refrigerant passing through the capillary tube evaporating. The refrigerant liquid is transported within the ascending portions 51, 52 as pockets of liquid. During every switch-off phase of the refrigerator the normal compartment evaporator is defrosted with the aid of natural heating.
