Abstract
1348599 Flushing cisterns IFOVERKEN AB 6 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 15979/72 Heading E1C [Also in Division G3] In a float-controlled cistern-supply diaphragm valve, the cross sectional area of the inlet passage 11 and all other passages leading to the outlet passage 8 is at least four times as large as the cross-sectional area of the outlet passage. The annular diaphragm closure member 16 is clamped at its inner and outer peripheries and moves relative to a seat 15 therebetween in accordance with the fluid pressure above the diaphragm which pressure is controlled by a pilot valve 20. The latter is moved by float-operated lever 23 and allows the chamber above the diaphragm to communicate with inlet pressure via passage 18 or to be vented when seal 22 moves away from the bore in the body in which the valve member 20 slides. Bore 27 and washer 28 prevent backflow. Outlet passage 8 terminates in a wider pipe section (9).
