Abstract

1348466 Shipping containers UNITED BRANDS CO 16 May 1972 [9 July 1971] 22967/72 Heading F4H A mobile refrigerator shipping container unit comprises a cargo compartment 12 having an air delivery passage 16 and top return outlet 18; a machinery compartment 14 formed of three chambers, the top one of which 20 contains two fans 22 and 24, an evaporator 26, a fresh air inlet duct 28 and an air outlet duct leading to the central compartment 34 which houses the refrigeration plant. The refrigeration plant includes a compressor 38, an air-cooled condenser 34, a water-cooled condenser 42, a dryer 44, expansion valve 46 and heat exchanger 48. A control by-pass line 50 runs off the condenser delivery line 40 to a point beyond the expansion valve 46 and is shown as including a solenoid valve 52, a thermostatic valve 54 and a delivery line 56. Water inlet 60 and outlet 62, and air inlet 72 and outlet 70 are provided. Air temperature sensors 80 and 82 connected to a stepthermostat 84 are used to control the unit. The bottom chamber 86 of the machinery compartment 14 contains an I.C. diesel engine power generator 88, a fuel tank 89 and a radiator 90.
