Abstract

1348261 Migration imaging XEROX CORP 5 May 1971 [8 May 1970] 13143/71 Heading G2H A migration imaging method using an imaging member comprising a substrate coated with in order (i) a transparentizable conductive layer and (ii) a layer of soluble material comprising migration marking material, comprises (a) forming an electrical latent image on the imaging member, (b) softening the soluble material so that migration marking material deposits imagewise on the conductive layer, (c) dissolving the soluble material together with the migration material in the background areas, and (d) rendering the background areas of the conductive layer transparent. Steps (b) and (c) or (c) and (d) may be effected simultaneously. The final image may be fixed by drying, using a member having a tackifiable layer between the substrate and layer (i), and/or by the transparentizing agent. In the Examples layer (i) is copper and is rendered transparent by iodine which may be mixed with a resin fixative.
