Abstract

1347747 Planographic printing plates LITTON BUSINESS SYSTEMS Inc 22 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 44286/71 Heading B6C [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A method of forming a planographic printing plate comprises applying a voltage between stylus 6 and the substrate 10 of an electrosensitive blank (see Divisions D1-D2) so as to remove portions of the top coating 14 thereby revealing underlying portions of the hydrophobic undercoating 12, and applying a solution to the remaining portions of the top coating to render the pigment therein hydrophilic. The solution may be an aqueous acidic K 4 Fe(CN) 6 solution and the pigment may be ZnO. The plate may be used in conventional planographic printing presses.
