Abstract

1346964 Up-and-over door DEMAG AG 27 April 1972 [28 April 1971 27 Nov 1971] 19551/72 Heading E2M An up-and-over door 1 is operable automatically by a carriage 11 connected to the door by a linkage and adapted to be moved along a guideway 8 by a motor 4 acting through a flexible element 7 which incorporates a resilient member, such as a spring 12 which allows the element 7 to lengthen when the door is moved manually. This allows the element 7 to slip on drive pulley 5 when the motor is braked. The linkage may comprise arms 14, 15, Fig. 2, the arm 14 being spring- biased against a stop 21. As the motor is operated to move the carriage to the left, the arms become co-linear and at the same time cable 19 pulls bolt (20), Fig. 1 (not shown) from its socket; further movement of the carriage opens the door. Alternatively, Fig. 5, the linkage 15 may comprise inner and outer tubes 15a, 15b urged apart by a spring 31 which is of such strength that as the door is being closed it is not compressed until the door reaches its closed position, whereupon shortening of the linkage 15 allows bolt (20), Fig. 4, (not shown) to be pushed into its socket by spring (23).
