Abstract

1346920 Piperidino hexose reductone derivatives EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 Nov 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 50867/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Piperidino hexose reductone monoacetate of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 complete the piperidino ring, R 3 is acetyl, n is 2 and one of R 5 and R 6 is OH and the other is CH 3 is made by reacting piperidino hexose reductone with acetic anhydride. Piperidino hexose reductone (wherein R 3 in the above formula is (H) is made by heating piperidino and D-glucose in the presence of galcial acetic acid. Anhydropiperidinohexose reductone (wherein R 3 is H and R 5 and R 6 represent = CH 2 ) is made by treating piperidino hexose reductone with anhydrous HCl in butanol. Dihydroanhydropiperidinohexose reductone (wherein R 3 is H, one of R 5 and R 6 is H and the other is methyl) is made by hydrogenating anhydropiperidino hexose reductone in the presence of Raney nickel.
