Abstract

1346587 Antiskid braking systems DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 20 Sept 1971 [29 Sept 1970] 46270/70 Heading F2F [Also in Division G1] A vehicle antiskid braking system includes means on each wheel in the form of a transducer 13 and a converter 20 producing a direct current the voltage of which varies with wheel speed, the output being fed via an OR gate to a circuit 21 which produces two outputs one of which F, Fig. 8, increases proportionally with wheel speed but decreases at not more than a predetermined rate and the other E of which increases and decreases proportionally with wheel speed and the outputs E, F are compared in a comparator 23, an output signal being produced, if the signal E is less than signal F, to operate a solenoid valve and release the brakes. In one form of hydraulic circuit Fig. 5, a pedal 30 operates a master cylinder 33 and two valves 31, 32, controlling the supply of hydraulic pressure from an outside source (not shown) and solenoid valves V 1 , V 4 are operated by the control circuit of Fig. 4. In another embodiment the wheels brakes are controlled individually.
