Abstract

134,507. Magnussen, N. M. Aug. 5, 1919. Cleaning, fluid - pressure processes for. - A steam cleaner for boiler tubes of the kind in which steam is fed through the back end plate 1 of the boiler through a. steam nozzle tube 4 which can be retracted into a protecting sleeve 3 or extended beyond the back plate 2 of the combustion chamber, and in which steam is supplied to the tube 4 from a steam chamber 9 surrounding the tube, is constructed with a helical slot 10 for admitting steam to the tube 4 in a manner which avoids steam shocks when the tube 4 is rotated or advanced to effect the cleansing action. The nozzle 12 is shaped as shown with an inclined perforated steam outlet 13 which is oval in cross section, and two channels 11 connect the nozzle 12 with the tube 4. The nozzle 12 is detachable and the steam outlet 13 may also be adjustable. The tube 4 is operated by a handle 14, and a pawl 15 may hold the tube in its retracted position by locking against a collar 16.
