Abstract

1345077 Aerating liquids A KNAPP 11 Aug 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 37666/71 Heading B1C An aerator for a jet of water includes a jetstabilizing device comprising a plurality of elongated members 25 along one of the limit surfaces of the jet, separated by spaces 24 not wider than the members 25 and affording passage from ambient air. As shown the members 25 are attached to a ball 12 which forms an annular jet, air being induced from the centre of the annulus but they may be positioned round the outside of the jet or both arrangements combined (see Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). The arrangement is shown applied to a conventional aerator having air inlets 9 and a flow deflecting member 14 with protrusions 16. The members 25 may be of square, circular, rectangular, polygonal, blade or any other cross-section and the ball 12 may be replaced by a dome or hemispherical or conical shell.
