Abstract

1343882 Urine collecting devices MATBURN (HOLDINGS) Ltd 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 6073/70 Addition to 1139715 Heading ASR A device for collecting urine from a patient comprises a body plate, not shown, having an aperture adapted to receive a flexible flange 1 of a drainage bag, which bag is provided with an internal non-return flutter valve 2 and an outlet tube 4 with closing means, not shown; a flexible disc 5 having adhesive on each side and an aperture corresponding to that in the body plate, one side being arranged to adhere to the flange and the other to a stoma of the patient; and a belt to hold the device on the patient's body. The valve 2 consists of flexible plastics sheeting attached to the drainage bag side seams 3 by welding. Each side of the flexible disc may be covered by a removable piece of paper prior to use. The belt is such that after passing around the body of the patient it is passed back on itself and secured to itself. Fig. 2 (not shown) depicts a bag of generally oval shape and of larger capacity than that shown in Fig. 1.
