Abstract

134,358. Strauss, F. Nov. 12, 1918. Guns.-Relates to a toy gun adapted to eject powdered material to imitate smoke and to produce a noise resembling a report. The invention is described as applied to a turret gun mounted on a miniature " tank " driven by a helical spring motor. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the turret 10 is carried on a stem 22 rotated through bevel-gearing 23 by the spring motor which. also actuates the road wheels 7. The gun barrel 11 is connected to a bellows 14 containing powdered material. As the tank moves, the turret is rota.ted, and the bellows is actuated by a pin 44 riding on a cam-surface 43. The reports are produced by the upper end of a pin 45 striking the casing, the pin being actuated by tappets 47 engaging a disk 46 and a spring 48. In a modification, the bellows is actuated by a projection on a spring arm which is oscillated by tappets. and a noise-producing device consists of a second spring arm similarly actuated. The turret, in this arrangement, is rotatable bv a handle, and a flexible tube connects the bellows to the barrel.
