Abstract

1343519 Folding; cutting from webs; and delivering sheets CANADIAN INDUSTRIES 1 30 Nov 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 55494/71 Heading B8R Flattened bags joined into a web by perforated junctions are drawn from a roll 1, folded twice longitudinally by A-frame folders 26, 32 having friction-reducing air bearings 29, 35, twice folded laterally by being forced by timed air blasts from nozzles 75, 81 into and through the nips of roller pairs 56, 57 and 57, 58 at their central points, the bags at the same time being torn from the web by virtue of the latter being held between slower moving rollers 40, 41, and then carried between belt conveyers 83, 84 supporting only their side edges to a position above an intermittently and laterally moving conveyer 108, each bag being pushed downwardly off the conveyers 83, 84 on to the conveyer 108 by a pneumatically operated reciprocating member 104, and the conveyer 108 being moved a distance greater than the size of a stack of bags when a predetermined number of bags have been placed on the conveyer to form a stack.
