Abstract
1343276 Protease inhibitor ASTRA LAKEMEDEL AB 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970 28 Jan 1971] 15530/70 and 3426/71 Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] A protease inhibitor comprising a trypsin inhibiting fraction of molecular weight c. 1400 and an isoelectric point above pH 10, and a chymotrypsin inhibiting fraction of molecular weight not greater than about 1000 is obtained by cultivating Streptomyces violascens NRRL 3859 under aerobic submerged conditions and isolating the inhibitor from the broth by conventional methods. The product may be put up into conventional pharmaceutical forms and used for the usual purposes, e.g. the treatment of shock, pancreatic disorders and blood clots. It is also stated to be active against Protease I and may be used as an antidote therefor.
