Abstract
1343161 Locking fuel tank filler cap TUDOR ACCESSORIES Ltd 26 May 1972 [8 July 1971] 32223/71 Heading B8T A locking fuel tank filler cap for motor vehicles comprises a cylinder lock 9 rotatable in a bore 6 by means of a key (not shown) to release the cap, the clearance between the cylinder lock 9 and the bore 6 being sealed by a rubber or plastics U-section ring 10 which permits air flow into the tank but prevents outflow of air or fuel vapour from the tank. The cylinder lock 9 carries two eccentric pins 20 and 21 engaging sockets 22 and 23 in bolts 13 and 14 which are spring-loaded to engage under the inturned flange 34 of the filler pipe 33 but which are retracted by rotation of the cylinder lock 9. The cap is prevented from rotating by recesses in the flange 34 receiving projections 26 and 27 on the cap. The sleeve 4 of the cap is inserted into the sealing ring 35 and pushed into the filler pipe 33, the bolts 13, 14 being thereby pushed inwards by their chamfered faces 17 until clear of the ring 35 when they spring outwards. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the filler pipe has an out-turned flange (34<1>).
