Abstract

1342806 Containers NETHERLANDS APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FOR INDUSTRY TRADE & COMMERCE 19 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 48565/71 Heading B8P A plastics container comprises an outer bin 1 having side walls 2, 3 and a base 4, and an inner bin 13 having side walls 15, 16 and a sectional division 14 on its interior, the inner and outer bins being interconnected at their upper edges by a groove 11 on the outer bin 1 and an inwardly directed bead 20 on the inner bin 13. The outer surfaces of the walls 2, 3 of the outer bin 1 are smooth but the inner surfaces have vertical ribs 8 which fit into grooves in vertical reinforcing ribs 17 on the outer surfaces of walls 15, 16 of the inner bin 13. The lower edges of the walls 15, 16 of the inner bin are received between the walls 2, 3 and longitudinal ribs 9 on the base 4. The base 4 is also provided with transverse ribs 10 and bottle dividers 12 on its inner surface and with ribs 5, which facilitate stacking, on its outer surface. A handgrip 22 is inserted into holes 7 and 21 in the outer and inner bins to lock them together. The handgrip may have ribs (23, 24) which provide a snap fit into the holes 7, 21 or may comprise two parts which are interconnected after insertion through the respective holes. Foam may be introduced between the walls of the bins to provide an insulated container. In a modification, the reinforcing ribs 17 of the inner bin are omitted and the walls 15, 16 corrugated so as to touch the walls 2, 3 of the outer bin locally.
