Abstract

1342559 Drying material during and after crushing POLYSIUS AG 29 March 1972 [6 May 1971] 14660/72 Heading F4G [Also in Division B2] Apparatus for crushing and drying material comprises a rotatable multi-chamber mill 3 having a central discharge arrangement 6 which includes a housing 13, Fig. 3, surrounding the mill and disposed eccentrically relative to the mill axis, the housing 13 having a hot gas feed pipe 18 and a pipe 19 to remove the ground material entrained in hot gas. The gap between the discharge housing 13 and the mill widens from the top downwards in the direction of rotation of the mill. In operation, material is fed from a bunker Fig. 1, by a belt 2 to a predrying chamber 4, and thence to a pregrinding chamber 5. Material discharged at 6 is separated by a sifter 8 and the coarse fractions are returned to the mill mostly to a fine grinding chamber 7. Fines are separated in a cyclone 9 and dust is removed at 11. Hot gas is supplied to the mill at 33 and to the discharge arrangement at 16, and gas from chambers 4 and 5 is returned to the mill by a blower 10 via the line 15.
