Abstract
1342196 Making armoured vehicle bodies; welding by pressure RHEINSTAHL AG 11 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 16663/72 Headings B3A and B3R [Also in Division F3] In an armoured vehicle body 1, Fig. 1, comprising a number of parts which are assembled to form a compound unit and which differ with regard to their properties or to their resistance to extraneous influences, the front parts, 8, 8<SP>1</SP> of the vehicle body 1 consist of armour steel and the remaining parts 9, 9<SP>1</SP> of the body consist of light metal alloy. The front parts 8, 8<SP>1</SP> are jointed to the adjacent parts of the body by a multiple stage processing method to form the unit and are hardened. The multiple stage processing method comprises positioning a steel plate 101 and a light metal alloy, e.g. aluminium alloy plate 102 as shown in Fig. 3, igniting a layer 110 of explosive which is provided on the plate 102 so as to connect the plates 101 and 102 together, machining away portions 101<SP>1</SP> and 102<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, and by welding at 106 and 105.
