Abstract

1341619 Electro-photographic copiers FUJI XEROX CO Ltd 13 Dec 1971 [14 Dec 1970] 57876/71 Headings G2A and G2H A platen 10 for carrying an original B is pressed downwards on to frictional drive rollers 13, 13' by a spring-pressed roller 14 and pin 39. Support rollers 12, 12' are connected to the base of the platen and roll along rails 18. When a copy signal is received, an electromagnetic clutch 24 fixes a gear 22 to a shaft 26 so that a drive shaft 19 of rollers 13, 13' is driven by the drive shaft 30 of a copy drum 33. As the platen moves the original B is illuminated by a lamp C and the image is projected on to drum 33. At the end of the scan the platen 10 actuates a switch (35), Fig. 2 (not shown) which disengages clutch 24 and causes an electromagnetic clutch 25 to fix a gear 23 to a shaft 27 to reverse the platen. Preferably a guide roller 20 is fixed to shaft 19. The platen comprises four frame members (b 1 -b 4 ); Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) surrounding a glass plate a.
