1341568 Indicating engine working conditions PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 Jan 1971 [13 Jan 1970] 1038/71 Heading F1B [Also in Division G1] A pressure measuring apparatus comprising a gauge 7 connected to a cylinder 1 of an internal combustion engine by a liquid filled duct 8 is operated by a method which comprises periodically discharging liquid from the duct into the cylinder by introducing a fresh quantity of liquid into the duct 8. The liquid, preferably oil from the lubricating system of the engine, protects the gauge against the combustion gases of the cylinder, and the periodic discharge prevents deposits from the combustion from blocking a narrow mouth of the duct.
