Abstract

134,149. Cooper, T. H. March 5, 1919. Folding cases and crates; hand-holes.-A folding or collapsible case or crate for pianofortes, organs, &c. comprises a base 1 to which are hinged the ends 3, 4, a back section 7, and a front section 10. The front consists of a number of sections 10 - - 13 hinged together, as shown, and the top 9, hinged to the back section 8 hinged to the section 7, carries a member 18 engaging a member 19 on the top member 13 to lock the case in its open position. The sections 3, 7 are hinged to strips fixed to the base, and, when the ends, back, and top are folded down, the front is folded over the whole, and the member 19 engages a member 20 on the base to lock the parts in the collapsed condition. Hand-holes 14 are provided at the front, back, and ends, and holes in the base allow the castors of the instrument to project therethrough for wheeling purposes. The base and back of the case are strengthened by strips 15, 16, and, in the open condition, the various sections are screwed together. Bolt-holes are provided for securing the pianoforte &c. in position, and the whole case may be reinforced by wiring.
