Abstract

1340438 Glass-metal composition E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 16 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970 25 May 1971 5 Oct 1971] 58544/71 Heading C1M [Also in Division C7] A metallizing composition to be fixed on a dielectric substrate consists of by weight from 60-98% of a finely divided noble metal component and from 2-40% of a finely divided inorganic binder component which comprises a glass consisting of in percentages by weight: PbO 30-50; SiO 2 30-40; CaO 2-20; Al 2 O 3 2-8; B 2 O 3 2-8; TiO 2 0À5-5; ZrO 2 0À5-5. A glass wetting agent such as bismuth oxide may form part of the inorganic binder component. Average particle sizes are 0À1-5 microns for the noble metals and 1-15 microns for the binder. A number of Examples are given: the preferred noble metals are Ag, An, Pt or Pd, with Rh, Ru, Ir and Os referred to and mixtures of alloys thereof may be used.
