1340188 Mechanical switches CTS CORP 16 Dec 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 59611/70 Heading H1N An electric switch comprises fixed contacts 27, 28, a moving contact bridge 32 carried by a contact carrier 31 and a slider 16 having a handle 17 projecting through slot 18 in the cover and two legs 19 projecting into the two ends of slot 36 in carrier 31, slot 36 also containing compression spring 37. Projections 41 on carrier 31 project into notches 15, 15a, 15b, 15c as appropriate in the cover and two cams 22 having sloping cam surfaces 23 on slider 16 project into two slots 38 having sloping ends 39 in carrier 31. Detent spring 24 having detents 25 fits over shoulder 21 on slider 16, detents 25 locating in the same pair of notches 15, 15a, 15b, 15c, as projections 41. The operation is as follows. Assume projections 41 and detents 25 are located in notches 15a. If slider 16 is moved to the left, detents 25 come out of notches 15a but projections 41 remain therein. As slider 16 moves to the left, the right hand leg 19 compresses spring 37 and cams 22 move along slots 38 until cam surfaces 23 engage the sloping ends 39 of slots 38 and depress the left hand end of carrier 31 so that the left hand ends of projections 41 come out of notches 15a and carrier 31 is snapped to the left by spring 37 until detents 25 and projections 41 engage the next pair of notches, 15b. Similarly when moving slider 16 to the right.
