Abstract

1340042 Ultrasonically developing photographic materials KODAK Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 8063/70 Heading G2C A method of making a lithographic printing plate comprises imagewise exposing a radiationsensitive material comprising a hydrophilic support and a sensitive layer containing a polymer to change the solubility of the polymer in a developer and subjecting the exposed material to ultrasonic vibrations in the presence of the developer to remove the more-soluble areas. Specified sensitive materials are the acrylic polymers and copolymers with vinyl and acrylic monomers of Specification 1108383 and the polyesters of Specification 1230772 sensitized with the diazo-ketone tridalomethanes of Specification 1230771 and the azidosulphonyl naphthoquinone diazides of Specification 1331441. In the examples, a polyester and an acrylic copolymer sensitized with a quinolinene one diazide or a polyester sensitized with an azide is imagewise exposed, treated with an alkaline solution containing a dye to soften the polymer and ultrasonically developed in a water bath.
