Abstract

A photographic process comprises imagewise exposing a material containing a diazonium salt, a diazo formeldehyde condensation product or an azide on a support and developing the latent image with a powder which adheres to the unexposed areas and removing loose powder from the exposed areas. The image may be fixed by heating or treatment with a solvent vapour. In the examples, the support may be rubbed with a gelatine layer and then coated with a diazo resin or a gelatine layer containing a diazotized p-phenylene diamine or a polyvinyl butyral, naphthylazide layer may be directly applied to a support. The material is then imagewise exposed, developed with pigmented resin particles and fixed with trichloroethylene vapour. Alternatively the light-sensitive layer may contain a maleic anhydride/vinyl acetate copolymer or an isophthalic acid/triethylene glycol/ethylene glycol condensation product.
