Abstract

1339679 Clothes line supports CORONETWERKE HEINRICH SCHLERF GmbH 14 March 1972 [24 March 1971] 11798/72 Heading A4U A clothes line support comprises carrier arms 2, 3 pivoted to a wall-mounted housing 1 for movement between a closed position, partially within the housing and an extended, in-use, position with the carriers projecting forwardly, clothes lines 4 wound on reels (44), rotatably mounted on shafts (40) fixed in the carrier arms 2, being pulled out individually through slots 7, against spring action, for engagement of rings 5 with hooks 15 on holders 6 retained by hooks 16, 17, 18 in slots 7 in the carrier arm 3. Two U- section metal hinge members 12 are incorporated in the housing 1 during injection moulding, each having a key-hole slot (14) for wall-mounting and eyes (19) in the limbs to receive mounting pins 24 for the carrier arms which are retained in extended position by a pivoted wire loop 8 urged by a spring 11 to engage with its free end behind an arresting member 9. The pivoted end of the carrier arm is bevelled so that the opening movement can be extended through an angle α and the free end of the arm engaged in a recess (23) in a lifting member 20 connected by a resilient tongue (21) to a frame 10 fitting round the member 9. Movement of the carrier arm towards the closed position raises the lifting member so that the free end of the loop is raised above the member 9. The reels (44) are connected to the shafts (40) by springs which urge the reels in the direction to wind the lines on the reels.
