1293537 Fliers STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 2 Dec 1971 [22 Aug 1968] 40254/68 Heading D1J A flier for the supply of wire 2 from a bobbin 1 comprises a member 5 for attachment to the bobbin, a unit 7 rotatable with respect to the member 5, supporting a pulley 16 and an arm 13 carrying a pulley 14 at its free end, both said pulleys being partially enclosed by shrouds 18 for the entry and exit of wire, and the pulley 14 being set at the specified angle with respect to the arm and its axis of rotation. In a co-ordinate system wherein the arm 13 lies in the x-z plane (Figs. 1 and 3), the axis of rotation of the pulley 14 is inclined at 12‹ to the x-y plane; (Fig. 5) and and at 18‹ to the y-z plane (Fig. 3). The shrouds 18 of the pulleys (Fig. 4) preferably have two 60‹ covered portions and openings of 140‹ and 100‹. The pulley mounting 17 may have two slots 22, 23 (Fig. 3), spaced by 144‹, and engageable by a pin 21 on the arm so that it may be fixed in either of two mirrorimage positions, suitable for right-hand or lefthand withdrawal of the wire.
