Abstract

1339580 Terminal blocks TELEMECCANICA ELETTRICA OFFICINE MECCANICHE RIUNITE SpA 30 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 61881/70 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] A rail mounted terminal block switch used in earthing an electric circuit of a machine for safety during maintenance, comprises an earthed contact 4, Fig. 1, connected by a moveable bridging contact 6 to a contact 3 coupled to a point on the electric circuit, the bridging eontact 6 having a second non-earthing position connecting the contact 3 with a third fixed contact 5 associated with a warning lamp (24) Fig. 4 (not shown). In the example the bridging contact 6 is yieldingly mounted on a shaft 7 carrying a helical spring 13 in a cup 9 on the shaft, whereby the contact 6 engages contacts 3, 4 when the shaft 7 is depressed by a screwdriver engageable with a slotted head 8 and operating to rotate a pin 11 into locking engagement with a fixed recess in the block 1. On release of the pin 11 by reverse rotation of the shaft 7 by a screw-driver a return spring 14 in the base 15 of the casing operates to engage the contact 6 with the contacts 3, 5. In the arrangement shown, the contact 3 has two contact regions 17, 18 whereby connection to the contact 3 is made in both positions of the bridging contact 6. A neon warning lamp (25), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be coupled between the contacts 3, 4 whereby further warning indication is given when the contact 3 is not properly earthed. The top face of the block 1 may carry a circuit diagram, Fig. 4 (not shown), the groove in the head 8 of the shaft 7 indicating the circuit connected.
