Abstract

1339528 Coating pipes H C PRICE CO 17 May 1972 23076/72 Heading B2L Apparatus for coating pipes 22 comprises coating stations 14, 16 which may be alternately fed with coating material so that pipes 22 on trolleys 32 running on tail tracks 18, 20 can be coated when a trolley is in position adjacent a coating station. The trolleys are fed 180‹ out of phase on the two tracks so that as one pipe is being coated the other coated pipe is being unloaded. A sand and cement mixture is formed in a pug mill (not shown and this is dropped on to a reversible conveyor belt 60 the rate of flow to the belt being controlled by control gates 84. The coating mixture is fed either to belt 100 or 102 depending on which coating station is to be fed and a rapidly rotating brush 116 in contact with a conveyor 118 ejects the coating material on to the pipe 22 which is rotated on trolley 32. The belts 100, 102 may be replaced by a single reversible belt thus dispensing with the need for reversible belt 60.
