Abstract

1339521 Compost container G E MITCHELL 17 Nov 1972 [23 Feb 1972] 8320/72 Heading C1B [Also in Division F2] A portable container for converting refuse, waste, grass or straw into compost is characterized in that the wall of the container is formed of lengths each composed of two layers of plastic or like flexible sheeting formed (e.g. by heat sealing) into vertically disposed pockets to contain heat insulative material in moulded or granular form and said lengths being erected in cylindrical three, four or multisided form together with a top cover of the same pocketed heat insulative construction. The container may be easily dismantled and may be made of polyethylene sheet pockets containing expanded polystyrene. Aeration of the compost may be provided by perforations in the walls on the lines of the seams. Figure 1 illustrates a container of one length of walling divided into ten panels A by heat seaming at points B. Opening D is for aeration and discharge of rainwater. Figures 5 and 6 illustrate the positioning of the uprights or supports C, C 2 and C 4 .
