Abstract

1,261,816. Portable containers. A. W. THIEL. 3 Sept., 1969 [28 Sept., 1968], No. 43590/69. Heading B8D. [Also in Divisions A4, B4-BS and F4] A double walled container, such as a polystyrene throw away drinking beaker comprises an inner wall 1 having two zones 13, 14 of different conicity and a shouldered base 15, and an outer wall 2 having a first zone 4 of slightly larger conicity than zone 14, a second zone 3 provided with an internally directed inner wall contacting helical rib 8 and having the same conicity as zone 13, and a third zone 16 of smaller conicity than zone 13 and meeting it at its top edge in a rim 7. In an alternative embodiment the inner wall may be provided with a helical rib, the outer wall being rib free. The walls are drawn from sheet material, the conicity of the ribbed wall and the height of the rib being chosen so that the wall is easily removable from its mould by a 360 degrees rotation followed by an axial movement.
