Abstract

1338943 Automatic exchange systems SIEMENS AG 11 Nov 1971 [17 Nov 1970] 52351/71 Heading H4K In a centrally controlled telecommunication exchange controlled by duplicate processors only one of which is actively involved at a time in switching processes, a scanner/distributer (as described the line scanner) is arranged to scan an input station for changes of semipermanent data such as directory to equipment translations and in the event of the input station being active the active processor receives the input data, updates its own store and arranges for the input data to be continuously or intermittantly available for a sufficient period for the duplicate processor to also receive the input data as soon as it completes any checking &c. fuction it may be involved in. Three alternative arrangements are outlined. In one the active processes causes both processors to be connected via the scanner/distributer to the input station and repeatably requests the input information over a period sufficient to ensure that the duplicate processor has also responded thereto. In other arrangements only the active processor is initially connected to the input station, the active processor repeats the data to the input station and after checking the duplicate processor is connected to the input station or to the active processor, the latter in either case repeating the data a sufficient number of times to ensure its reception.
