Abstract
1338700 Valves CAMERON IRON WORKS Inc 6 May 1971 13562/71 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions G2-G3] In a control system for valves 11A, 11B in underwater well production tubing 10A, 10B, accumulator 16 is charged, via check valves 18A, 18B, to the highest pressure experienced upstream of valves 11A, 11B and accumulator 17 is charged, due to check valves 19A, 19B, to the lowest pressure experienced downstream of the valves 11A, 11B. When downstream pressure falls to a particular level in either line 10A, 10B, as when choke 13A or 13B is opened, the pressure above respective pilot spool 25 is overcome by spring 32 and ambient hydrostatic pressure, as admitted at 33, and the spool rises to connect lines 26, 27 to accumulators 17, 16 respectively causing piston 21 to close the valve 10A or 10B. Reopening of valve 11A, 11B is achieved by pressurizing the respective line 10A, 10B downstream of the closed valve to depress the pilot spool.
