Abstract

1338400 Seed distribution S S GATES 2 July 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 45465/70 Heading AID [Also in Division B8] A seed distribution device for use in sowing seeds in a seed box, comprises a rectangular plate 1 and a seed dispensing tray 4 guided for slidable movement along the plate, both the tray and the plate being provided with apertures 3 and 6 or 6<SP>1</SP> so that movement of the tray along the plate brings the apertures alternately into and out of register to allow a fixed number of seeds to fall through in rows transverse to the length of the plate. A shutter 9 may also be provided with apertures corresponding to those 3 in the plate 1 and these are held out of register while those of the tray and plate are brought into register to feed seeds 8 into all the now blind apertures in the plate. The apertures in the shutter are then brought into register to sow all the seeds. The plate may have different patterns of staggered transverse rows of apertures for use with different trays and the trays may have more than one transverse row with differently dimensioned apertures.
