Abstract

1337645 Skein-holders D M DELERUE 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970 7 April 1970 5 May 1970] 21261/71 Heading D1J Skein-supporting arms 20, 21 of a skein holder are mounted on a base-plate 2, arm 21 being slidable by means of a plate 5 in a slot 3. An adjustable stop 14, is fixed in the slot 3, with the skein under the desired tension and a spring 12, biassing arm 21 away from the stop, fully compressed. As the yarn is unwound, spring 12 takes up any slack that develops, maintaining a small tension when only a few turns remain. The arms 20, 21 may be fixed semi-circular surfaces (Fig. 1, not shown) or cylinders mounted on spindles 20 1 , 21 1 . Relatively slidable plates 17, 18 may be fixed to the arms, overlapping arrangement, to prevent the yarn from catching on the arms during withdrawal.
