The yarn 12 fed by each of a number of pivoted yarn guides 8 is clamped between a member 21, slidably mounted in the yarn guide support, and a flat spring 30 when the yarn guide is rendered inoperative and the member 21 slides under the influence of a spring 25 to draw the yarn passing through an aperture 22 in the end of the member into engagement with the spring. In projection 14 on the yarn guides engages the member 21 to eject it and release the yarn when the head guide is rendered operative.
