Abstract

1337340 Ketoxime end-blocked polysiloxanes DOW CORNING CORP 23 June 1971 [13 Aug 1970] 29418/71 Heading C3T [Also in Divisions B2 and F3] Organosiloxane resins comprise (a) 5-25 mole per cent of diorgano siloxane units, the diorganosiloxane units being bonded through silicone-oxygen-silicone linkages to form a diorganosiloxane block having an average of 6 to 15 siloxy units per block, the polydiorganosiloxane being at least 90 mole per cent dimethylsiloxane or phenylmethylsiloxane units, the remaining units being phenylmethylsiloxane or dimonomethylsiloxane units, (b) from 50-75 mole per cent organosiloxane units of a general formula R<SP>11</SP> x SiO 4-x/2 wherein x has an average value of 1 to 1À3 and R<SP>11</SP> is a methyl, ethyl, propyl or phenyl radical, at least 50 mole per cent of the R<SP>11</SP> substituents being phenyl radicals, the organosiloxane units being phenyl radicals, the organosiloxane units comprising a block at least 3 siloxane units, the siloxane units being monorgano or diorgano siloxane units, and (c) from 3 to 20 mole per cent of end blocking ketoxysiloxane units of the formula in which y has an average of 1À8 to 2, R<SP>11</SP> is an alkyl radical of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a phenyl radical or a vinyl radical and X<SP>1</SP> is Q 2 = or Q<SP>1</SP>C= in which each Q radical is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical or a monovalent halogenated hydrocarbon radical and Q<SP>1</SP> is a divalent hydrocarbon radical, the mole percentages of (a), (b) and (c) being based on the total number of siloxane units present. The resin may be terminated with monomethyl di(methylethylketoxime)-siloxy units. Uses.-In coating compositions, for which purpose they may be dissolved in benzene, toluene, xylene, perchloroethylene, mineral spirits and chlorobenzene, with or without thixotropic agents such as silica, and heat conductive substances such as carbon black, silicon carbide, and aluminium powder.
