Abstract
1337042 Contact lenses WESLEY-JESSEN Inc 18 Jan 1971 [19 Jan 1970] 2357/71 Heading G2J A method of making a contact lens which defines an optical zone and a surrounding bearing zone comprising determining a suitable base curve from measurements of the eye of the patient, and forming a concave spherical curvature 12 on the lens corresponding to this base curve to form the optical zone, measuring the slope of the cornea of the eye in one meridian (preferably the flattest meridian) at at least one point to be covered by the bearing zone, and forming a second concave spherical curvature 14 in the form of an annulus of a sphere having a chord equal to the diameter of the optical zone, and having a slope at the point of inter-section of the chord and the annulus conforming to the measured slope. As shown, a third concave spherical annulus 16 may be formed in the lens.
