Abstract

1336584 Photographic processing apparatus W HAASE and P WHITE 4 Dec 1970 [6 Dec 19691 57737/70 Heading G2A Printing plates are treated by passage through a tank 4 having a pair of rollers 2 located on the input side and a pair of rollers 3 located on the outlet side arranged so that the two planes containing the axes of each pair of rollers intersect above the tank, and having a shallow, generally concave guideway 14 for supporting the printing plates as they pass through the tank. The guideway is constituted by the bottom of the tank as shown and is of polished metal, alternatively it is formed by the upper extremities of a plurality of rollers or spheres. Rollers 2, 3 act as squeeze rollers and have a resilient covering. Roller brushes 6 are provided to treat the printing plates. The time of treatment is adjusted by varying the tank length, the speed of the rollers or the height of liquid. More than one tank may be provided to give different treatments. A sprinkler tank 7 is provided, and infrared heaters 16 are mounted above the treatment path. A moisture applying roller 17 prevents areas of crystallization on the rollers 2, 3.
