Abstract

1336213 Metal-containing threads; stitched seams KURARAY CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970 13 May 1970] 25410/71 Headings D1G and D1W A thread includes a first, non-metallic bundle comprising natural or man-made filaments, fibres, split fibres or strips having a shrinkage ratio of less than 15% in water at 100‹C and a second, metallic bundle comprising iron, nickel, copper, brass, aluminium or stainless steel having an apparent diameter of from 5 to 100Á, wherein (a) the formula S<SP>2</SP>dm# df#5 is satisfied, S being the specific gravity of the metal, dm the denier of the metallic bundle and df the denier of the non-metallic bundle, (b) the weight of the metallic bundle is from 0.1 to 200% of the weight of the non- metallic bundle, and (c) the bundles are twisted at a tension of less than 80% of the strength of the metallic bundle. The thread may be woven or knitted into an article of clothing, or may be sewn into it as needle and/or bobbin threads. The use of a stainless steel filament twisted with three polyester filaments, an aluminium filament twisted with three polyester filaments and heat set, and a copper filament coated with an acrylic ester resin twisted with three dyed polyvinyl alcohol spinning fibres, is exemplified.
