Abstract

1336010 Spinning machines INDUSTRIEWERKE KARLSRUHE-AUGSBURG AG 3 Dec 1970 [23 Dec 1969] 57553/70 Heading DID '[Also in Division H2] A spindle 2 carrying a cop 4 is surrounded by laminated stator core 6 and a stator winding 8. A rotating electromagnetic field produced by the winding 8 causes a ball-shaped yarn guide 9, supported in a track 6b in the stator core, to circle the spindle and thus wind the yarn on to the cop. The stator core and winding are reciprocated in vertical direction. The spindle 2 may be stationary or driven in the opposite direction to the yarn guide 9. The stator winding may be poly phase or may be series of separate coils fed with d.c. through semi-conductor switching. As the package builds up the frequency and voltage of the supply to the stator winding may be reduced. These parameters may also be varied to ensure a constant yarn tension. A yarn guide in the form of an annular body supported by balls or rollers from the stator support is also disclosed, Fig. 2 (not shown).
