Abstract
1335771 VTOL aircraft A P PEDRICK 12 June 1972 6385/71 Headings B7G and B7W A wingless vertical-take-off aircraft having a fuselage 1 shaped to provide sufficient aerodynamic lift during normal flight to support the weight of the aircraft and having sufficient pivotally mounted ducted fan turbo-jet engines 13 ... 15 to provide an upward thrust which is greater than the weight of the aircraft. Control during take-off and landing is provided by compressed air jets at the nose 20, tail and at the ends of fold-away booms 16, 17. Fold-away fan wings are provided to permit an emergency landing. The normal undercarriage may be replaced by an inflatable bag. The fuselage may be detachable from the tail and engines in an emergency and provided with a parachute. A fold-away fan tailplane may be provided.
