Abstract

1335755 Fibre fleece METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 24 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 39765/71 Heading D2B A fibre fleece is produced by adding a binder to an aqueous dispersion of cellulose, and/or regenerated cellulose fibres in an amount of 10-60% by weight based on the weight of the final fleece, precipitating the binder onto the fibres, adding synthetic fibres having a length of 10-30mm made of polyamide, polyester or polyacrylonitrile and converting the resulting dispersion into a fibre fleece by a wet-laying process. The binder is a latex of a copolymer formed from 30-80% butadiene, 10-69% styrene and/or acrylonitrile and 1 to 10% polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated acid e.g. fumaric acid or methacrylic acid. The aqueous dispersion may have a cationic retention agent e.g. polyethyleneimine or a polyamide cross-linked with epichlorhydrin added before addition of the binder. The binder is precipitated with aqueous aluminium sulphate solution.
