Abstract
1335360 Local viewing FRANCE, NATIONAL DEFENCE, MINISTER OF and TELECOMMUNICATIONS RADIOELECTRIQUES ET TELEPHONIQUES 9 Dec 1970 [10 Dec 1969] 58499/70 Heading H4F [Also in Division G2] An optical system for night vision comprises a prism 1 and objective 2 forming an image on the photo-cathode of a light amplifier tube 3. A glass plate 4 having a reflector factor and transmission factor each equal to 0À5 is inclined at 45 degrees to the optical axis and a concave spherical mirror 5 has its focus F close to the screen of the tube 3. A converging lens 7 and a diverging meniscus lens 6 forming an eye-piece constitute a Galilean telescope. Thus, the eye 8 of an observer may observe the object directly through the telescope and also receive a lightintensified superimposed image of the object through the prism 1. A binocular body, Fig. 2, incorporating such a system has pivotal mountings 9 receiving the lenses 6, 7, the prism 1 being mounted in a hood 11. Two such bodies have their mountings 9 supported by pairs of apertures 14, 15 formed in headgear 13 for the observer, Fig. 3.
