Abstract
1334923 Pressurized dispensing container valves E H GREEN 19 April 1971 [10 Aug 1970] 20222/71 Heading F1R In a pressurized dispensing container valve, Fig. 2, which comprises a sprayhead 28 whose stem 34 seats in a spring biased plunger 48 reciprocably movable in a housing 36, there are provided on either the exterior surface of the plunger 48 or on the interior surface of the housing 36, more than two circumferentially spaced axially aligned teeth which during assembly are guided to mesh with a plurality of circumferentially spaced axially aligned ribs on the surface not provided with teeth so that the plunger 48 cannot rotate within the housing 36, there being, as shown, less ribs than teeth so that when assembled there are unoccupied spaces between pairs of teeth through which product may pass. The teeth 72 are on the plunger 48 and have chisel points 76 which during assembly are guided by slanting portions 86 on the housing ribs 82, 84. On its interior the plunger 48 has steps 66 which when the stem 34 is depressed communicates with an axial slot 66' in the stem to allow product which passes from a dip tube 58 held by a split ring 60 through the unoccupied spaces between pairs of teeth 72 to enter the bore of the stem for discharge. The plunger 48 has a split 80 to assist passage of the product. The stem 34 is rotatable within limits governed by a notch 68 in the lower end of the stem and by a stop 70, to vary the dispensing rate.
